PATNA, Aug. 5 -- The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) suspended six MBBS students for four weeks over their alleged involvement in examination malpractice, said officials on Tuesday. The action came as part of the institute's probe into an alleged answer sheet manipulation racket, . According to an office order by the institute, the suspension takes effect from August 3. The students, three each from 2022 and 2023 batches, have been directed to vacate the hostel immediately and stop entering the campus. The order warned that any violation would invite strict action, including rustication. The order follows the director recently vetting the recommendation of the student disciplinary committee (SDC) in its meeting on June 12. The IGIMS brass had forwarded the recommendation of an internal probe committee, constituted in April, to the SDC on June 9, after the inquiry found six medicos involved in forgery of answer sheets after the conduct of the Second Professional MBBS (Supplementary) Examination, 2025. The disciplinary action comes days after the NMC's Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) forwarded a complaint to the Bihar government, alleging large-scale malpractice in MBBS and postgraduate examinations at IGIMS. The NMC's intervention follows an internal inquiry report submitted to IGIMS director Dr Bindey Kumar on April 25, which found that a non-academic outsourced employee and several students had compromised the sanctity of the aforementioned examination....
