BETTIAH, May 11 -- A joint team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Childline rescued 21 children, including five girls, belonging to tribal communities from Bapudham railway station in Motihari and arrested an alleged human trafficker, officials said on Sunday. Bharat Prasad, RPF's post commander at Motihari said the children, aged between five and 16, were rescued from platform number 2 at Bapudham Motihari station on Saturday evening while they were waiting for Awadh Express to reach Bhagalpur via Muzaffarpur. "They all belong to tribal communities and hail from Godda and Sahebganj districts of Jharkhand, besides few from Bhagalpur in Bihar. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of human trafficking for labour-related exploitation. Investigation is underway," said Prasad. Meanwhile, the accused Phonsis Kispota, a resident of Ranchi, alleged that these children were being taken to Bhagalpur for academic purposes. Officials said efforts are underway to trace the families of the children and ascertain whether a larger trafficking network is involved. "Kispota failed to provide satisfactory answers and documentary proofs regarding the children's travel and identity, raising suspicion of trafficking. The children have been handed over to child working committee (CWC) for counselling and further legal procedure," said a Childline member....
