4 killed in lightning strikes in separate places in Bhojpur
ARA, July 21 -- Four people died after being struck by lightning at different places in Bhojpur district on Monday, while some others sustained injuries, officials informed. The incidents took place at places falling under Charpokhri, Garahni, Aayar and Hasan Bazar police stations.
A young farmer died from a lightning strike on Monday in Kharati village under Charpokhari police station area. Govind Kumar, 33, died on the way to Ara Sadar Hospital.
The deceased's cousin, Lavkush Kumar, said the victim was planting in the field on Monday morning when heavy rain began and he was struck by lightning, seriously injuring him. He was initially taken to Charpokhari PHC for treatment.
In another incident, a girl planting in a field died after being struck by lightning in Manduri village under Garahni police station area. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to Sadar Hospital.
The victim's uncle, Pramod Kumar, stated that Nandini Kumari was planting in a field near the river with her younger sister, Chandni Kumari, and another girl from the village. A heavy downpour accompanied by thunder struck the three, injuring them. Subsequently, the family brought Nandini and Chandni to Sadar Hospital. The doctor who examined Nandini declared her dead.
In another incident, a ward member died after being struck by lightning in village Ashudhan in Aayar police station area on Monday. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Sadar Hospital. The victim was Bhikhari Singh, 45, a resident of Ward No. 11 and a farmer.
An elderly man working in a field died after being hit by lightning in Basmanpur village under Hasan Bazaar police station area. The victim was Jamindar Singh, from Baswantpur village, under the same police station....
