PATNA, July 15 -- Patna police on Tuesday suspended four policemen for dereliction of duty in connection with the Bunty Kumar abduction-cum-murder case. Bunty (33) abducted near Patna Junction on July 6 was found murdered on Saturday. His body was discovered near the Fulailpur Bypass in Barh subdivision, with parts of it buried in the soil. He was wearing only a vest and had multiple visible injury marks. His family claimed he was targeted for opposing a sex racket running in the Jakkanpur police station area. Those suspended were ASIs Praveen Kumar Pankaj, Awadhesh Kumar, Veer Bahadur Singh and home guard jawan Sudarshan Prasad. All the suspended personnel have been directed to give their explanation within three days. City SP (Central) Mamta Kalyani said the four policemen were present within 100 metres of the spot when Bunty was abducted on the night of July 6. Their duty was on patrol car of Dial-112, but despite this, they did not get information about the incident and no action was taken on time. According to the family, Bunty was abducted from busiest Doodh Market near Patna Junction on Monday night while buying curd. CCTV footage purportedly showed a group of men assaulting him and forcing him into a black SUV. So far, police have arrested three people, including Rohit Kumar, who is named accused of participating in the kidnapping. Second named accused, Ravish Kumar alias Bisiya is still at large. Investigators are probing the family's allegation that he had opposed activities linked to a sex racket that led to his murder. Meanwhile, minister Ram Kripal Yadav, who met the family members, said the victim was from a poor family. "When the family members went to Jakkanpur police station to file a kidnap complaint, the officer on duty refused to register complaint and referred them to Kotwali police station. A Zero FIR should have been lodged by Jakkanpur police. We have urged Patna SSP to look into the matter properly," he added....
