BHABUA, July 23 -- Kaimur police arrested four policemen, including three Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) personnel, for allegedly extorting money from truckers on GT Road (NH-19) at Karmnasha Integrated Check Post on Tuesday night, officers said on Wednesday, adding over Rs.83,300 cash and four mobile phones were recovered from the accused. Following specific input about illegal extortion to Kaimur SP Shikhar Choudhary, Traffic DSP Dayanand Kumar conducted the raid, they added. "Those arrested were identified as SAP personnel Ganga Sagar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Ballia, Bachchu Prasad of Sheikhpura, Maniraj Sharma of Paliganj and Home Guard jawan Sunil Kumar of Kaimur." A case under BNS sections 308(3) (putting or attempting to put a person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 308(5) (extortion) has been registered against the accused and further legal action is underway.
