3 from J'khand held in Judicial Magistrate's abduction and robbery
PATNA, May 16 -- A joint team of Bihar STF and Assam police have arrested three persons from Dagarua Toll Plaza in Bihar's Purnea district in connection with the attempted abduction and robbery of a first class judicial magistrate (JM) from Nalbari district, said director general (operation) Kundan Krishnan on Friday.
Mukesh Kumar Yadav, 35, Prabhu Sao, 27, and Sunil Kumar Paswan, 28, are natives of Jharkhand's Hajaribagh district. A case was registered at Nalbari police station under relevant BNS sections.
Police said that around 7.30 pm on Wednesday, five to seven persons in an SUV intercepted the JM's car by overtaking it on the national highway while he was headed to Nalbari's Ghograpar. Three masked men stepped out, forced JM's car open and tried to abduct him at gunpoint. By that time, locals came forward, forcing them to flee. Ritesh Kumar of Jharkhand and Mahesh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh were arrested by Assam police on Thursday.
"During interrogation, they revealed names of their aides. Based on intelligence, evidence and CCTV footage, we learnt that three accused were travelling to Jharkhand via Purnia. Separate teams of STF including Cheetah Battalion and special operation group assembled near the toll plaza under Dagarua police station, and intercepted their car. All three were arrested and handed over to Assam police," said the DG.
