PATNA, March 22 -- The three-day Bihar Diwas celebrations from March 22 to 24 will start from Sunday at Gandhi Maidan and other venues with cultural events, song and dance presentations by eminent artists from across India, officials said. Chief minister Nitish Kumar will be gracing the main event on Sunday evening at Gandhi Maidan along with his cabinet colleagues. From 2010 onwards, the state government has been organising Bihar Diwas to mark the creation of the state on March 22, 1912 after separation from the Bengal Presidency. In the past many years, the celebrations to mark the foundation day have been made in a grand scale. This time, officials said playback singers like Sona Mahapatra, Shaan and Papon would be performing at Gandhi Maidan. There would be also dance presentations by local artists at SK Memorial hall during the three-day event, apart from other cultural events. At Gandhi Maidan, several departments would be also putting up stalls to showcase the various welfare schemes and initiatives for uplift of the poor and weaker sections. DM, Patna Thiyagarajan SM said tight security would be ensured at Gandhi Maidan with deployment of heavy security personnel while ADM and DSP rank officers would be monitoring the law and order at the ground. Magistrates too would be deployed while there would be constant monitoring of the event through CCTV cameras and a control centre had been set up for higher vigil, the DM said. Elaborate arrangements have also been made for smooth traffic flow at the ground. Meanwhile, the CM extended his greetings to the people of the state. In his message, he hoped Bihar would have a glorious future by its resolves, asserting that people of Bihar would take the state to new heights. HTC...
