3 boys drown while taking bath in ganga
PATNA, June 22 -- Three boys drowned while bathing in Ganga river at Hetanpur ghat under Shahpur police station in Danapur subdivision on Sunday, police said.
"Five boys had gone to the river to take bathe when they waded into deep waters. Those at the spot somehow rescued two boys. However, three of them-- Tej kumar (11), Piyush Kumar (10) and Prince Kumar (7)-- drowned," police said.
Soon after the incident, villagers gathered at the ghat and informed the police after which a team reached the spot and sent the body to the Danapur hospital for autopsy.
Shahpur station house officer Naveen Kumar Singh said the police received information around 10am that three boys drowned in Ganga.
"We soon reached the spot and started a rescue operation. The three children died due to drowning and two were safely rescued. The administration paid immediate assistance of Rs.20,000 each to their families. An ex-gratia of Rs.4 lakh will also be given under disaster management provisions," he added....
