PURNEA, Aug. 27 -- A flood-fighting boat carrying 22 labourers suddenly capsized in the Ganga river at Raghopur embankment in Bihar's Bhagalpur on Wednesday. Quick response team rescued 21 of them; however, search for the remaining one is underway. The incident took place near Raghopur embankment falling under Kharik block at a time when labourers were placing sandbags into the Ganga to stop erosion when shifting weight and changing currents led to imbalance of the boat which caused it to capsize. Soon after the incident, the state disaster response force (SDRF) team deployed six boats and 21 labourers were successfully rescued while search operation for one missing person is underway.
