20-year-old college student gang-raped in Gaya Ji, 5 arrested
GAYA JI, May 4 -- A 20-year-old college student was allegedly gang- raped by five people at an abandoned place between Belaganj and Neyamatpur railway stations on the Gaya-Patna railway section on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.
The victim, who had recently completed her college education in Jehanabad, was travelling by train to visit her maternal grandparents in Neyamatpur. She had boarded the train at Jehanabad station.
As the train reached Belaganj station, she found the area deserted and decided not to get down, opting instead to continue her journey towards Gaya.
Shortly after the train resumed its journey, unidentified individuals allegedly pulled the emergency chain, police said.
The young woman, believing she had reached Neyamatpur halt, stepped off the train with the intention of heading to her grandparents' place. As soon as she disembarked in the desolate area, she was overpowered by the miscreants, who then subjected her to sexual assault and fled. After being alerted on Dial 112, Belaganj police reached the place, rescued the victim and admitted her to a nearby hospital.
The FSL and technical teams also reached the crime scene and collected scientific evidence.
Gaya Ji SSP Sushil Kumar said that police had arrested five accused involved in the crime named Ankit Kumar (Akal Bigha), Rahul Kumar (Kali Sthan Korma), Abhishek Kumar (Belaganj), Amarendra Kumar alias Mathura Yadav (Harigaon)-all from the Belaganj police station area of Gaya Ji and Upendra Kumar alias Bhuta of Uta Manpur village in Jehanabad district. Five mobile phones have been also recovered from them....
