PATNA, May 19 -- Bihar police on Monday arrested three criminals including Sandeep Kumar Badal, Prince Kumar and Ankit Kumar Singh following encounters in Patna and Siwan districts. Police said Ankit Singh, a resident of Chandpur under Siswan police station area, was accused of robbery of Rs.20 lakh in a jewellery shop located in Jamapur Bazar of Jiradei police station area on May 6, while Badal was accused of shooting and injuring Shambhu Kumar while he was going to catch a bus with his colleague teacher Veena Kumari under Agamkuan police station on May 13. Shambhu was shot in the arm while Kumari was robbed by two men on a bike. "Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a search operation at a location in Agamkuan police station area to nab Badal. On seeing them, the criminals opened fire at them. Police retaliated and overpowered Badal and his aide Prince," said Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, adding that Badal sustained bullet injuries in his legs. He is undergoing treatment. Police said the duo was wanted in several cases of robbery and snatching. Meanwhile, police said, Ankit was returning from Uttar Pradesh and was intercepted by Mairwan police at Bedauli More where he started firing.
