PATNA, Aug. 13 -- Two businessmen from Jharkhand's Ramgarh district were abducted for a ransom of Rs.20 lakh and later rescued from Saran district, police said on Wednesday. The two businessmen, identified as Ashish Kumar Chaudhary and Rakesh Kumar Dutta, residents of Ranibagh Jara Tola in Ramgarh district, were called to Chhapra on the pretext of starting a transport business. They reached Chhapra with their wives and children and were staying at a hotel near Nagar Palika Chowk. While they were roaming around Chhapra town, the accused took them in a Scorpio from near Chhapra court. The abductors then held them hostage in a house in Jawainian under the Gaura police station area and demanded Rs.20 lakh as ransom for their safe release. They also threatened the businessmen with dire consequences if they concede to their demands. When the two businessmen did not return home for a long time, their family members became worried. Ashish Kumar's wife, Reena Chaudhary, lodged an FIR at the Town police station. Following the complaint, police launched an investigation. On the directions of Saran Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Kumar, a joint team of personnel from Gaura and Marhaura police stations raided the house in Jawainian. Both businessmen were rescued during the operation, and four alleged abductors - Ashutosh Kumar, Harshit Kumar, Raushan Kumar and Rahul Kumar - were arrested.
