161 IAS, JAS officers reshuffled in J'khand
RANCHI, May 25 -- In an unprecedented and sweeping administrative overhaul, the Jharkhand Government's Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Rajbhasha executed a massive bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring and posting 14 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 147 Jharkhand Administrative Service (JAS) officers across various state departments and regional districts with immediate effect.
Under the official directives issued late Friday evening and made public on late Saturday evening, the state government mandated that all newly appointed district magistrates (DMs) must strictly exercise their statutory powers under Section 14 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Furthermore, the administration issued clear compliance orders stating that any officer left without an active assignment following this notification must immediately report and contribute their services to the department headquarters in Ranchi.
Among the high-profile IAS changes, Chhavi Ranjan moved from the Health Department to take charge as the new Director of Sports, while Saurabh Kumar Bhuwania transferred from Khunti to serve as the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar. Mohammad Javed Hussain will replace him as the new DM and Deputy Commissioner of Khunti.
Additionally, Madhavi Mishra has been appointed as the new Director of Information Technology in Ranchi and Varun Ranjan has been handed the additional responsibility of Managing Director for the Jharkhand Exploration and Mining Corporation Limited (JEMCL).
The massive restructuring also includes 147 state-cadre JAS officers, deeply reinforcing leadership at both the state secretariat and district levels. In the senior secretariat postings, Smita Toppo takes over as Joint Secretary for School Education and Literacy while Menka and Sunil Dutt Khakha have been posted as Joint Secretaries in the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Classes Welfare Department.
The critical Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department will see Yogendra Prasad and Anuj Kumar Prasad step in as Joint Secretaries. Additionally, Madhumita Kumari and Jyoti Kumari Jha join the Finance Department as Joint Secretaries while Santosh Kumar Garg has been deployed to the Governor's Secretariat as Joint Secretary.
For regional deployment and infrastructure operations, Asim Kispotta has been named the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC)-cum-CEO of the Zila Parishad in Jamtara. Mohammad Sadat Anwar takes over as DDC-cum-CEO in Palamu and Premlata Murmu has been posted to Garhwa in the same capacity....
