AURANGABAD, Aug. 28 -- Thirteen West Bengal tourists, including five women and a helper, were injured after a bus overturned on GT Road (NH 19) near Siris village in the Barun police station area of Bihar's Aurangabad district in the early hours of Thursday. At least 45 tourists, all residents of the Sonamukhi police station area in Bankura district of West Bengal, had left Kolkata on a bus to visit the historic Taj Mahal and other tourist attractions in Uttar Pradesh. As the bus reached near Sirish village, the driver dozed off and lost control over the speeding vehicle. The bus then collided with a roadside metal barricade and overturned, police said. The sound of the bus hitting the barricade was very loud and the villagers rushed to the scene. Locals immediately informed the police and NHAI emergency services. The injured passengers trapped inside the wrecked bus were rescued and admitted to Sadar Hospital at Aurangabad. Timely rescue operations averted a major tragedy, police said. Identified as Rita Sutodhar, Dilip Bundu, Hira Bundu, Shefali Bhui, Jhana Babri, Nemai Shisht, Rautan Mandal, Sonamukhi, Malavati Ghosh, Mahabali Oraon, Chand Sutodhar, Murali Karak, and bus conductor Sheikh Ashraf, all in the 45 to 68 age group, were out of danger, Barun SHO Ranjit Kumar said.
