12-yr-old boy killed, accused lynched
PATNA, Oct. 11 -- A 12-year-old boy was murdered at Ithari village of Madhepura by a 45-year-old "mentally unstable" man on Saturday. Angered over the gruesome killing, locals thrashed the killer to death, police said.
The accused was identified as Anil Yadav, a native of Barahi panchayat.
According to Madhepura police, a case of murder was lodged in connection with the minor's killing. Following the lynching, a separate case would be lodged with Ghailas police outpost.
The incident happened around 10.30am on Saturday when children were playing outside their home. The accused arrived there with a sharp edge weapon wrapped in a handkerchief. According to witnesses, the victim, along with other children, was trying to snatch the handkerchief and this angered the accused and he slit the minor's throat with the weapon.
Hearing the cries of the children, locals rushed to the spot and caught hold of the accused before he could flee, and beat him up.
"We went to the spot and found Yadav lying on the ground. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed," said SDPO Ajay Kumar.
He added the police were trying to identify those who took part in the lynching....
