11 trainee constables fell unconscious during final test run; 4 critical
SASARAM, June 15 -- Eleven female trainee constables fainted during a 16-kilometre final test run at Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) Ground at Dehri in Rohtas district amid intense heat, officials said on Sunday, adding that four of them are in critical condition.
They were rushed to Sub-divisional Hospital at Dehri where four were referred to Sadar Hospital at Sasaram. Most complained of chest pain, breathing difficulties and abdominal pain caused by running under intense heat, attending physician Dr Pranav Bharti said.
They were required to complete a run of approximately 16 kilometres from the BSAP-2 parade ground to Indrapuri Chowk. The new recruits are participating in final tests, mandatory to be completed by June 15, before their passing out parade, an official added.
Doctors at Sadar Hospital referred Nisha Kumari to Narayan Medical College and Hospital at Jamuhar where doctors referred her to AIIMS Patna after stabilising her condition. Shyamli Kumari, Vinita Kumari and Sonam Kumari are recovering at Sadar Hospital, the doctors said.
Around 1,350 newly recruited female constables from different police districts are currently training under BSAP-2 at Dehri. Last week, trainee constable Shriram Kumar, a resident of Samastipur, fell ill during a 16-kilometre run and died during treatment at AIIMS Patna....
