'Teacher-student relationship integral to Indian tradition'
PATNA, Oct. 13 -- Bihar Governor Lt. Gen. Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.) on Monday emphasised the importance of teacher-student relationship as an integral part of Indian tradition.
"I still respect my teachers and always will. It has been over 50 years since I completed my education, yet even today, if I receive a message from a teacher on WhatsApp, I read it first," he said as the Chief Guest at the 5th Convocation Ceremony of the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB).
Addressing the students who received gold medals and degrees, he stated that the credit for this success belongs to teachers as well. "This is a special day for all of them. He advised them to share this happiness," he added, appreciating the rapid strides CUSB has made to achieve NAAC 'A++' grade, UGC Category-I status, and its clean, green campus.
The Governor said that 80 students from this university had been appointed as Assistant Professors out of 2,400 posts across 211 newly established degree colleges, reflecting the university's academic excellence under CUSB Vice-Chancellor Prof KN Singh, and faculty members.
He urged the students to participate in the awareness campaigns being conducted for the citizens of Bihar, specifically the 'TB-Free Division' campaign.
"As you step out from this campus into the broader landscape of society and the nation after receiving your degrees, remember that this marks not merely the conclusion of an academic milestone, but the beginning of a new responsibility towards nation-building. It is your energy, technical acumen, and innovative thinking that will establish India as a guiding force on the global stage," he added.
Bihar Legislative Assembly speaker, Dr Prem Kumar, said that regardless of the career path chosen, one must contribute to initiatives aimed at the preservation and upliftment of humanity. "While striving to advance your careers, maintain unwavering faith in non-violent protest, human dignity, and constitutional rights and duties. While valuing your own freedom of expression, do not underestimate the importance of others' perspectives," he added.
Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the responsibility for our culture, civilization, and entire wealth of knowledge rests upon the shoulders of the youth.
"While overseeing the Ministry of MSME, I witness the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas of the nation's youth from close quarters every day. The country's mindset has shifted; today's youth no longer aspire merely to be 'job seekers' but aim to become 'job creators.' This embodies the spirit of self-reliance envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar," he added.
Speaking as the guest, former Governor of Sikkim and Meghalaya Ganga Prasad said that India is rapidly advancing towards becoming an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India).
Presenting the university report, CUSB VC Prof Kameshwar Nath Singh shared the achievements of the past year and outlined future plans. "I take great pride in stating that our university has achieved a commendable standing in a short span of time. Our university has been at the forefront of successfully implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. We have fully implemented multidisciplinary education, skill development initiatives, and the Academic Bank of Credits. High-level research work is currently underway across our various departments. Our faculty members have published numerous prestigious research papers at both national and international levels and have secured patents," he added....
