PATNA, Aug. 29 -- Bihar education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Friday said that no candidate would be marked 'fail' in Class 10 and 12 board exams. Instead of 'fail', they would be marked "kaushal ke liye patra (eligible for skills)" and would have the opportunity of enrolment with Bihar Board of Open Schooling and Examination (BBose). "The Education Department will soon issue the necessary directives on this regard. A student may fail due to a number of reasons and that does not point to his talent, which may flourish in later stages. Therefore, 'fail' word will not be used in marksheets," he added. The education minister said that chief minister Samrat Choudhary has approved the initiative, which would go a long way in boosting the confidence of students by skilling them for trades they would like. To be eligible for skill and vocational training programs (such as the Hunar-V scheme) under the BBose, candidates must meet specific residency, age, and attendance criteria. BBOSE was set up as an autonomous Organisation of Bihar's education department in 2011 to provide all students opportunity to excel. The minister said special classes would be conducted for a month for students appearing in the matriculation supplementary examination so that they could perform better. The CM is also scheduled to launch the Teacher Support Portal on Teachers' Day to be observed on September 5. The state government has also launched the "Vidya Saathi"app for students of Classes 9 to 12. The platform will connect students with teachers around the clock, with about 75,000 teachers expected to provide one-on-one academic support. Tiwari said that the choose transfer of teachers would also be completed in September. He also said that the number of vacancies in TRE-4 could further increase. Tiwary on Friday, a day after the state agreed to act on protesting job aspirants' demands, including holding a single-phase exam for teachers' recruitment. A few days ago, the state capital witnessed a pitched battle between job aspirants and police as the demonstrators tried to march to the chief minister's residence demanding a single-tier teacher job exam and a transparent recruitment process. Tiwary said, "If students are facing problems for any reason, it is the moral responsibility of the government to find a solution. Youths are the future of the country, and the government is committed to taking decisions in their interest."
