'Kaafi daant khayi and kaafi jawab bhi diye'
India, Oct. 9 -- Actor Sonali Kulkarni, who played Nana Patekar's wife in Taxi No. 9211 (2006), recalls how their relationship evolved from frequent arguments to friendship. "He was always 'sir' for me. Because calling him 'Nanaji' would be odd," she says, recalling how he scolded her for apparently wearing makeup during a costume trial. "I shouted back, saying there's no makeup. My hairdresser told me 'Aisa ulta jawab nahin dete'. I was young, and kaafi daant khayi and kaafi jawab bhi diye. He gave us that freedom."
The two later worked together in Deool (2011) and Dr Prakash Baba Amte - The Real Hero (2014). On the latter's sets, Patekar would stay back to watch his co-actors perform. When Kulkarni asked him why, he replied, "If you are doing good work, I want to do better because best kaam toh mera hi hoga. He never stopped complimenting others," she recalls, adding, "He would have liked to leave like this, without illness."...
