Mumbai, April 6 -- A Zilla Parishad (ZP) employee has been booked for molesting a 17-year-old student in Nalasopara after he touched her inappropriately and she slapped him, immediately bringing the matter to the notice of others in the Palghar Zilla Parishad office. The police said the student had recently appeared for her Class 12 exams. On March 28 she visited the education department of the Palghar Zilla Parishad to inquire about getting a scholarship for her higher education. An employee, identified as Tanaji Davare, 45, asked her to return two days later. When the survivor returned on Friday, Davare touched her inappropriately and molested her. Enraged, the girl slapped Davare. While he continued to verbally abuse and defame the girl, a crowd of others at the ZP office gathered around them. Based on the girl's complaint, Davare was booked for molestation under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act "We are recording statements of the witnesses," said a police officer from the Palghar police station.
