MUMBAI, May 3 -- Days after a frustrated motorist lashed out at the traffic chaos caused by a BJP protest rally in Worli, Tina Chaudhary, who had confronted Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan, released a pre-recorded video message to the media on Saturday, explaining the sequence of events that led to the confrontation. The April 21 incident occurred during a rally near the Worli Dome, against the defeat of the Women's Reservation Bill. The procession had blocked traffic on a busy arterial road, at peak hour, causing tempers to rise. Chaudhary, who was en route to picking up her daughter, stepped out of her vehicle and confronted BJP leaders, accusing them of blocking roads and causing public inconvenience. She demanded that the protest be shifted to an open ground instead of occupying public roads, briefly disrupting the rally as videos of the confrontation went viral online. Recounting the events in the video, Chaudhary said she had dropped off her daughter at music class at 4 pm and returned at 4.45 pm, only to find herself stuck in traffic due to the protest rally. She remained inside her car for nearly 25 minutes as traffic was gridlocked. "I didn't receive any response or reaction," Chaudhary said, adding that despite repeatedly urging police for nearly an hour to clear the obstruction and allow vehicles to proceed towards a connecting road, her requests went unheeded. She said a police barricade reaching up to her waist prevented her from approaching the officials directly. "I didn't throw the bottle at the rally or any of the protesters. I threw it on the ground to attract the attention of the police personnel," she said, underlining that it was not an act of assault, as was speculated. By around 6.15 pm, she said, Mahajan was the only person who tried to listen to her and understand her situation.
