Water pipeline bursts in Jogeshwari, supply hit in nearby areas
Mumbai, April 12 -- Less than 24 hours after a water pipeline burst flooded Bandra West, another water line rupture in Jogeshwari West disrupted water supply on Saturday evening.
According to civic officials, a 450mm pipeline burst at Vaishali Nagar on Patel Estate Road near Shakti Hospital, affecting areas such as Ram Mandir, Oshiwara and parts of Goregaon West, including the MMRDA building.
Civic officials said the complaint was first raised by a citizen and repair work is currently underway. "After completion of the water pipeline repair work, water supply will be restored," an official said.
On Friday, a similar incident at Lucky Hotel junction on SV Road in Bandra West led to widespread flooding and traffic disruptions. The pipeline, buried around four feet underground, burst after a collar connecting two sections failed, officials said.
Dharmatejas Prasannadas, assistant engineer, water works (H-West ward), said the collar was old.
