VIHAR LAKE SPILLS; RAIN revives RESERVOIR levels
MUMBAI, July 8 -- Vihar Lake overflowed at 9 pm on Tuesday, becoming the first of the city's seven drinking water reservoirs to reach full capacity this monsoon, weeks after the city grappled with dwindling water stocks and supply curbs due to a delayed monsoon.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)had imposed a 10% water cut from May 15 and tightened restrictions in mid-June as reservoir levels dipped sharply.
Heavy rainfall over the past few days has transformed the situation, with the combined water stock in the seven lakes rising to 28.92% of usable capacity....
