MUMBAI, May 1 -- In a week-long drive against drug peddlers in Mira Road, the Mira-Bhayander-Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police arrested 23 people, including two foreigners, and seized contraband worth around Rs.1.40 crore. The special drive was carried out separately by two teams of police and crime branch in Zone 1 from April 20 to April 26. Police registered 10 cognisable offences against persons found in possession of narcotics and seized contraband worth Rs.1.10 crore, including 374 gm of MD, 370 gm of marijuana, 96.29 gm of cocaine, 12.480 gm of heroin, 8 gm of brown sugar, and 3,200 ml of Lerix T-Cup syrup. Eleven persons were taken into custody, including two foreign nationals. Additionally, preventive action was initiated against 53 habitual narcotics offenders. The crime branch team registered eight cognisable offences, seized 712.7 gm of ganja, 60 gm of hydroponic weed, 35.1 gm of heroin, and 109.9 gm of MD, collectively valued at Rs.29.18 lakh, and arrested 12 persons.
