Tourist trampled as two elephants fight
India, May 19 -- A tourist from Chennai was crushed to death during a clash between two elephants at Karnataka's Dubare Elephant Camp on Monday, officials said. According to forest officials, two captive elephants, named Marthanda and Kanjan, were being bathed in the river near the camp in Kodagu district when the two began fighting. Officials said the victim, J Tulasi (33), who was standing near the river, either came under the elephants' legs or was struck during the fight. Following the incident, Karnataka forest minister Eshwar Khandre directed officials to frame a standard operating procedure (SOP) for visitor safety at elephant camps throughout the state.HTC...
