Thane: worker electrocuted while fixing banner on pole
THANE, June 20 -- A 28-year-old banner installer was electrocuted while putting up a birthday greeting banner for a local politician on a high-tension electricity pole in Ulhasnagar on Thursday night, police said.
The victim, Ravi More, a resident of Kalyan who worked for a banner printing and installation firm, reportedly came into contact with a live wire while fixing the banner at Khemani Chowk around 10 pm. The banner carried birthday wishes for former Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Bhagwan Bhalerao.
Police said the electric shock caused More to lose balance and fall onto a tin shed below. Local residents rushed to his aid and took him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The Ulhasnagar police have registered an Accidental Death Report and launched an investigation....
