Soon, saffron tags to ID MP's stray cattle
India, March 11 -- Four million stray cattle in Madhya Pradesh will soon get a saffron coloured identity tag, state government officials said on Tuesday, adding that this will differentiate them from domestic cattle, which sport yellow tags. The tags will also carry unique 12-digit numbers assigned to cattle under the Unique Animal Identification (UAD), helping the government manage stray cattle -- which pose a risk to lives and livelihoods, causing road accidents or wreaking havoc on fields. The tagging is part of the Bharat Pashudhan project launched by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2024 as a digital database for livestock animals in the country. htc...
