MUMBAI, May 25 -- A man was allegedly stabbed to death in Panvel on Friday night following a dispute linked to an alleged relationship issue. The deceased was identified as Salim Anwar Sheikh, 44, a resident of Panvel. Based on a complaint filed by his wife, Hina Salim Sheikh, the police registered a case against three accused - Shahnawaz Altaf Sheikh, Salim Khamu Sheikh and Altaf Sheikh. According to the police, the attack took place around 9pm in Patel Mohalla. The dispute stemmed from Salim Sheikh's alleged relationship with a woman, officials said. Sheikh had recently stopped living with the woman, returned to his wife's home and discontinued financial support, which allegedly angered the woman's son, Shahnawaz Sheikh. "Following the dispute, the accused attacked Salim Sheikh with a sharp weapon and stabbed him multiple times on the back and head," an investigating officer said. Sheikh was stabbed four to five times, while the two co-accused allegedly beat him up. He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where he later died during treatment.
