Thane, Oct. 28 -- Police detained Ram Purnekar, son of slain Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar, on Tuesday while he was marching towards deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde's residence in Thane to stage a protest. The family had warned of an agitation unless former Thane mayor Meenakshi Shinde and her husband, Rajendra Shinde, were arrested within 24 hours, accusing them of masterminding Pradeep Purnekar's murder.
