LUCKNOW, May 24 -- Skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front and struck an unbeaten hundred to keep Punjab Kings' playoff hopes alive after their crushing seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants here on Saturday. The results ended their six-match losing streak and help end their league engagements with 15 points, although they will be praying for Rajasthan Royals to lose to eliminated Mumbai Indians on Sunday as RR can go through with a win that will lift them to 16 points. Iyer (101*-51b, 11x4, 5x6) steadied the chase in a century partnership with opener Prabhsimran Singh (69) and brought up his century by smacking the winning six off Mohsin Khan with three to get chasing 197 to win. PBKS romped home in 18 overs. For a moment, the target looked tricky, but Iyer and Prabhsimran raised didn't allow the LSG bowlers to settle and added 140 runs for the third-wicket. Singh's 39-ball knock contained seven fours and two sixes. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant apologised to the fans before the match began, admitting at the toss that the season had been tough on both the players and supporters for the bottom-placed team. Asked to bat first, opener Josh Inglis, who scored his third half-century with a 44-ball 72 (9x4, 2x6), lifted the side after they were struggling at 69/3. Inglis and Pant raised 65 runs for the fourth wicket. Inglis's knock came in two phases as he first launched an opening salvo against Arshdeep Singh, and then produced a brutal finish that exposed the seamer's struggles this season. The innings' early fireworks came courtesy of Ayush Badoni, who arrived after the early dismissal of Arshin Kulkarni, drafted into the top order in place of Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran. Badoni scored an 18-ball 43 (5x4, 3x6). His assault peaked in the fifth over, where he struck Azmatullah Omarzai for 24, a burst that included two fours and two sixes. Pant, reprieved on 18 when Shreyas Iyer spilled a chance at cover, was eventually dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal, who finished with 2/25. Late hits from Abdul Samad (37*, 20b, 3x4, 3x6) pushed LSG close to the 200-mark, but a cheap wicket for Mukul Choudhary to Marco Jansen quelled those ambitions. Brief scores: LSG 196/6 (J Inglis 72, A Badoni 43, M Jansen 2/33, Y Chahal 2/25). PBKS 200/3 in 18 ov (P Singh 69, S Iyer 101*, M Shami 2/45). PBKS won by 7 wickets....
