MUMBAI, Aug. 18 -- After assuming charge as chairperson of ND Studios in Karjat on Monday, cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar announced a 50% concession on studio facilities to encourage film production houses to shoot in Maharashtra. The studio was acquired by the state government for Rs.120 crore after its founder, art director Nitin Desai, died in 2023. Shelar, the first chairperson of the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation board, chaired a meeting where the decision was taken. The concession, effective until March 31, 2027, covers filming and location charges, theme park entry fees and accommodation for producers, artistes, art directors and other personnel.
