Mumbai, Sept. 12 -- A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing several stray cats in the Panjrapole area of Govandi. Police said the accused is mentally unstable, lives on the footpath and earns a living by collecting and selling plastic bottles. During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that he had been bitten by a cat and had since developed a grudge against stray cats. He would allegedly attack cats whenever he saw them, sometimes causing fatal injuries. The case was registered after Rubina Pathan, 53, an animal lover and Govandi resident, found four dead cats in her locality on September 3. All four had suffered serious head injuries, allegedly inflicted with a blunt object. Pathan approached the police after finding two more dead cats-an adult and a kitten-with similar injuries on September 5. "We formed several teams to trace the accused and eventually arrested him," a police officer said. htc...
