MUMBAI, Feb. 8 -- A school helper has been arrested for sexually harassing a five-year-old female student, said the police. The absconding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the school has also been booked for failing to act even after the child's parents complained about the incident.
According to the north region police, the 30-year-old accused worked as a helper in a school in Virar. The minor's parents told the police that in January, the accused had touched their daughter inappropriately and sexually harassed her.
The family said that even after they approached the school, neither the management nor the CEO took any action. They even threatened the father of the child to stay quiet. The family eventually approached the police.
"We have registered a case under sections 351 (criminal intimidation) of the BNS, and sections 10 (aggravated sexual assault), 17 (abetment of offences) and relevant sections o 21 (failure to report or record child sexual abuse cases) of the POCSO Act....
