Mumbai, June 2 -- The by-election for the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by NCP president and deputy chief minister Sunetra Pawar will be held on June 18. The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notification to this effect on Monday . The polling will coincide with elections to 17 Legislative Council seats in Maharashtra scheduled for the same day. June 8 has been fixed as the last date for filing nominations. Pawar resigned from the Rajya Sabha on May 6 after being elected as an MLA from the Baramati Assembly constituency. The winner of the by-election will serve the remainder of the term, which expires on July 4, 2028, giving the new member a tenure of just over two years....
