Power cut hits 420k homes in Dombivli and Ulhasnagar
MUMBAI, July 18 -- Around 420,000 homes in Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur and nearby areas were plunged into darkness for more than two hours on Friday evening due to a major technical fault in Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company's transmission line.
The fault occurred at around 7:45 pm, leading to a shutdown of the Anandnagar, Palava, Pal and Dombivli extra-high-voltage substations.
Deputy chief public relations officer Ajit Igatpurikar of MSEDCL said the fault occurred in the transmission network and not in its network. "Power was restored first in Dombivli at 10:00pm, and then to all affected areas by 10:15pm," said Igatpurikar. Officials said the technical fault had been detected on a Mahatransco tower on the Kalyan-Murbad road....
