MUMBAI, Sept. 23 -- The parents of an IIT-Bombay student who died by suicide on September 18 have demanded the arrest of institute director Shireesh Kedare, Professor Suryanarayana Doolla and others named in the FIR. Speaking to the media outside the Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday after recording their statements, they sought an investigation into alleged caste-based harassment on the Powai campus. Their son, a second-year student at the institute, died after he was allegedly caught cheating in a mid-semester examination by Doolla, his teacher and supervisor. Doolla has been booked under Section 108 of the BNS for alleged abetment to suicide.
