Outgoing chief Gagrani likely to get post-retirement posting
MUMBAI, April 1 -- Outgoing BMC chief Bhushan Gagrani belonged to the 1990 IAS batch and was known for his quick decisions. Hailing from Kolhapur, he gave his civil service exams in Marathi.
Gagrani began his career in Chandrapur and was chosen to oversee rehabilitation work at Osmanabad after the Latur Osmanabad earthquake in 1993. He was known to head five departments at one time. After serving as the collector of Sindhudurg, he was brought to the Chief Minister's Office by Narayan Rane. Throughout his career, he worked in important posts such as head of MIDC, MSRDC, MTDC CIDCO, Film City, industries, urban development, irrigation, rural development, medical education and public health.
He was one of the top contenders for the chief secretary's post but would have got just two months in the posting. Sources in the government said that he could get a post-retirement posting....
