Newborn boy found abandoned in hospital ward's washroom
Mumbai, May 28 -- A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in the washroom of ward number 40 at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar East.
The Tilak Nagar police have registered a case against unidentified parents.
Police said the infant was discovered by Shreeram Patel, a resident of Saki Naka, who had come to the hospital to visit his cousin admitted there.
According to police, Patel entered the washroom when he heard a baby crying and found the newborn abandoned inside a bathroom stall.
Following which, Patel immediately informed hospital staff, and a nurse took custody of the child.
Based on a complaint filed by police constable Jeetendra Patil, who is posted at Rajawadi Hospital, the Tilak Nagar police registered a case under Section 93 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which criminalises the abandonment or exposure of a child below the age of 12 by parents or legal guardians.
Police are currently examining CCTV footage of the hospital and investigation is underway to identify the infant's parents....
