NATHWANI PAPERS ACCEPTED DESPITE OBJECTIONS, Oppn criticises move
RANCHI, June 11 -- The returning officer on Wednesday accepted the nomination of NDA-backed independent candidate for Rajya Sabha polls Parimal Nathwani, whose papers came under scanner after Congress legislator Naman Buxel Kogari filed a complaint on Tuesday raising objections citing four major 'discrepancies' that allegedly violated the relevant electoral rules. Returning officer Ranjeet Kumar passed an order on the complaint hours after hearing both sides on Wednesday. The hearing took place amid protests by Congress workers outside the assembly building, who sought the cancellation of Nathwani's nomination. The BJP held a counter protest, accusing the Congress of creating pressure on the returning officer.
