msrtc to build separate toilets for trans people
Mumbai, Oct. 15 -- The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will construct separate toilets for transgender persons at bus stations across the state. A government resolution (GR) issued by the transport department on Wednesday stated that the absence of separate toilet facilities at bus stations forces transgender persons to face social and physical difficulties, causing considerable hardship. Taking note of the issue, minister of state for transport Madhuri Misal had directed the MSRTC to construct separate toilets for the transgender community.
Subsequently, MSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Dr Madhav Kusekar sought the government's administrative approval for Rs.9.76 crore to provide separate toilet facilities for transgender persons at various bus stations.
The facilities will be constructed at bus stations across the MSRTC's Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati and Nagpur regions....
