MUMBAI, Sept. 25 -- IIT Bombay on Thursday announced that it has decided to postpone its mid-semester examinations by 15 days amid continuing tensions on the campus following the suicide of a second-year student. The exams scheduled for September 26 and 27 will now be held on October 10 and 11, institute officials said. The decision comes as the parents of the deceased student began an indefinite hunger strike on Thursday, while students continue to raise concerns over the academic and mental-health environment on campus. According to institute officials, the administration decided to give students additional time to prepare for the examinations amid the current situation. The institute has also stepped up counselling and mental-health support for students. In an email to students, IIT-B said walk-in counselling services with extended timings were available.
