Mumbai, Sept. 26 -- Reigning Women's Premier League (WPL) champions Mumbai Indians on Thursday appointed Lisa Keightley as head coach of the team for the 2026 edition of the competition. The Mumbai-franchise roped in the Australian after former coach Charlotte Edwards moved back to England to take charge of the national team. Under Edwards, a former England captain who led her team to the 50-over and T20 World Cup double in 2009, Mumbai Indians won the WPL title in the inaugural edition in 2023, followed by the triumph earlier this year. With two-time World Cup winner Keightley, the Mumbai team has a vastly experienced coach. She has been head coach of both the English and Australian women's teams. The Australian also had stints as coach in the WBBL, and recently led the Northern Superchargers to the title in The Hundred last month.
