MUMBAI, July 16 -- A renewed bid by the Union government to pass the Delimitation Bill gathered momentum on Wednesday after Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Supriya Sule said her party would consider supporting the proposed legislation if it spelt out a uniform 50% increase in Lok Sabha seats across all states. "If the new Delimitation Bill includes a provision ensuring a 50% increase in seats for all states, we will discuss it within the INDIA bloc. If it serves the interests of the people, we will consider supporting it," Sule said on Wednesday. The development came amid speculation that the government will re-introduce the bill that failed to garner the required two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha in the previous session. There is also buzz that the NCP (SP), an MVA ally, was inching closer to the ruling NDA.
