MUMBAI, Aug. 11 -- A 20-year-old man who crashed his two-wheeler into the guardrail along the Kalamb beach flyover in Virar on Sunday evening succumbed to his injuries on Monday. The deceased's girlfriend, who was riding pillion on the two-wheeler, also sustained injuries in the accident and is presently undergoing treatment at the DM Petit Hospital in Nalasopara, police officers familiar with the matter told Hindustan Times According to the Arnala police, the deceased, Ibrahim Shaikh, was a resident of Bilal Pada in Nalasopara East, while his girlfriend, Sneha Gaikwad, 19, resides in Vikhroli. The couple visited Kalamb beach on Sunday and were returning home when Shailkh lost control of the two-wheeler and it crashed into the guardrail along the bridge on the Kalamb-Nirmal route. The accident occurred around 11pm, and local residents rushed the couple to the DM Petit Hospital in Nalasopara after informing the police. "Shaikh was speeding, which led to the accident," a police officer said, requesting anonymity. "Around 1.30am on Monday, he succumbed to his injuries while his girlfriend is still undergoing treatment." The Arnala Coastal police have registered an accidental death report in the matter....
