Man, father-in-law die after cement mixer truck rams scooter
NAVI MUMBAI, Aug. 21 -- A 42-year-old man and his 61-year-old father-in-law died after a mixer truck allegedly rammed their scooter from behind on Thane-Belapur Road near Khairane Bridge on Wednesday evening. The two were returning home to Koparkhairane from work when the accident took place amid rain, police said.
The deceased were identified as Raj Pancham Jaiswal, 42, and Shivmurti Ramlochan Jaiswal, 61. They were riding a TVS scooter near Pawane MIDC at around 7.15pm when the mixer truck allegedly crashed into them.
According to Turbhe police, the two were travelling along the left side of the Thane-bound lane when the truck, which was behind them, hit their scooter.
Both sustained serious injuries in the collision and later succumbed to them. The mixer truck driver allegedly told police that he did not see the scooter and was unaware that a collision had occurred.
A case has been registered at Turbhe police station against the driver under sections 106(1), 281 and 125(a)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act....
