Mahua raises concern over order to vacate circuit house
New Delhi/Kolkata, Aug. 16 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has sought Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla's intervention after alleging that the Nadia district administration asked her to vacate a circuit house in Krishnanagar constituency on Friday night, hours after she was allotted a room there.
Moitra said she checked into the circuit house around 6.15pm after returning to her constituency following the adjournment of Parliament on August 13. She alleged that a crowd gathered outside the premises, raised "Jai Shree Ram" slogans.
In a letter to Birla, Moitra said, "A woman MP, staying alone, being asked to vacate her rightful accommodation at 9.47 pm not only gravely violates her rights, but brings into question the safety and security accorded to women by the ruling dispensation," she wrote.
