Mumbai, Sept. 2 -- Mumbai senior selectors have decided to appoint Siddhesh Lad as Mumbai captain for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season instead of continuing with former India all-rounder Shardul Thakur who captained the team last season. Due to his heavy workload as the pace spearhead and a valuable lower-order batter, the team management wants to manage the 34-year-old Thakur's workload better. Lad has been rewarded for his consistent performances with the bat last Ranji Trophy season, scoring 774 runs in eight matches at 77.40 with five centuries and one fifty. It is a great turnaround for Lad, who had to move to Goa for the 2022-23 season due to lack of chances in Mumbai. For the white-ball domestic tournaments, Mumbai have captaincy options in Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav. Iyer is the current T20I captan while Yadav is the 2026 T20 World Cup winning captain....
