THANE, July 31 -- Eight members of a family were injured after the Trax jeep they were travelling in rammed a stationary container truck on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway near Bhiwandi in the early hours of Thursday. Four of the injured suffered head injuries and were admitted to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Police said the family later shifted the injured to their hometown of Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district for further treatment after they received primary medical care. According to the police, the family had travelled from Chalisgaon to Mumbai on Wednesday night to see off relatives leaving for the Umrah pilgrimage. The accident occurred near Sonale village while they were returning home. Investigators said the driver attempted to overtake a truck travelling ahead. Owing to poor visibility caused by heavy rain, he mistook a parked container truck on the left side of the highway for a moving vehicle and crashed into its rear. Dnyaneshwar Devkar, senior inspector of Bhiwandi Taluka police station, said the accident occurred around 2.30am. The impact left the jeep extensively damaged....
