PATNA, April 23 -- The Janata Dal (United), or JD(U), on Wednesday announced its 24 national office-bearers, retaining Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha as national working president, while no role has yet been assigned to Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar despite speculation about his projection as the future of the party. The list, constituted by JD-U national president and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar, was notified by party general secretary and MLC Ashfaq Ahmad Khan. While Nishant has shown increased activity lately, with party leaders projecting him as the party's future, he has not received a position. A senior party leader said Nishant has time and wants to first feel the pulse to get a hang of the state's needs and aspirations, not just its politics. "The party wants him, but he is no hurry. That is what makes him distinct. He will prove himself with to his inherent qualities to give Bihar a capable future leadership," he added. Former Jehanabad MP Chadeshwar Prasad 'Chandravanshi' has been appointed national vice president, while Gopolganj MP Alok Kumar Suman has been made the treasurer.
