Insurgency no longer major NE issue: Shah
India, June 5 -- Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday said insurgency was no longer a major issue in the Northeast and urged state governments in the region to shift focus from law and order to safeguarding citizens' rights and accelerating development through emerging technologies and new economic sectors. Addressing the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Shah said the region had witnessed a significant transformation over the past decade, with peace replacing unrest and opening new avenues for growth and investment.
